The great thing about all of this is that people want to garden! And we are finding ways to do it as small communities. It seems to add to our resiliency as a community when we are able to negotiate thru the questions part to the solutions. I am…

Did you get the contact information from the lady who wants to start a Community Garden in Urbandale? If so, may I please have it? I would like to advertise for her.

Exactly! That's what I am talking about! I suggested a Community Garden in Tower Park at the Merle Hay Neighborhood Association meeting, but it wasn't really solid just kind of popped into my head and I said it to a Rice Field Advocate.…

I like community gardening. It is healing, inclusive, productive, and even though I may or not get a plot, I like the community! It's a whole group of people who love gardening! Can't beat that. Brian said he doesn't have a plot…

I am super amazed that you & Betty do not even have plots and you both attended the Seed Swap! Then you went and offered your house for a meeting! Wow! I'd love to have fellow gardeners come over but my house is on the tiny side. You are…

Donna, Yeah, that was really a good idea to have a seed swap! And glad it was the two comm. gardens. I am still deciding whether I should actually get a plot because I now have a yard AND I ordered honey bees for spring. So, I don't want to get…

This is a great idea. I could use ideas for gardening since we just moved in this winter! And it would be great to spend some time with "garden heads". I really love the idea of sharing packages of seeds. I plan to attend.

Thanks! I have never heard of the sour cream thing. Last time was way worse. I slept with my hands in a bowl of ice water- actually didn't sleep tho. THis time was not so bad. I will remember the sour cream trick. AND be more careful...but…

Sandy replied to Kyla Cox's discussion 'Any cures for jalapeno hands?'
I had problems with this a few years ago, and the problem only got worse after taking a shower (due to pores opening, I guess.) The only thing that offered me relief is soaking my hand in sour cream. It sticks to the hand better than milk. I had to…

I'd love to have fellow gardeners come over but my house is on the tiny side. You are super lucky to have a place somewhere around your house that has sun and you live close to Beaverdale! :) I think it would be awesome to keep bees and chickens in the garden. I have read of other Community Gardens and Allotments that do that. All that nice manure. Let me know how the beekeeping goes please, my husband would really like to do that. But I am afraid of colony collapse. I really hope to see you again :)

I suggested a Community Garden in Tower Park at the Merle Hay Neighborhood Association meeting, but it wasn't really solid just kind of popped into my head and I said it to a Rice Field Advocate. That was something I thought was interesting about the space the Downtown Garden uses. As far as I know the Wadding Pool at Tower Park is unused as well, there is already a pavilion, lots of sun, good location, and I think there is already at least one grill. The Apartments next to Tower Park have a garden. I think having the Community aspect would help motivate gardeners to come to the garden among LOTS of other positive things.

Thanks for friending me! :)
