"I'm thankful to be a part of a great group of people who've got a tremendous start at building a community garden where friends and strangers now have the opportunity to get to know each other, the great outdoors, and the food on their plates."

I'm also pretty darn thankful that the city of Des Moines is even letting us attempt to grow food and this community garden on their land at no upfront cost to us!
I am thankful for the friends I have made and the friends I will meet.
I am very thankful to have a piece of land for Sydney to run around, grow, and learn from.
I am thankful for the opportunity to learn new things about gardening.
I am thankful for the generous spirit of the community gardeners as a whole.
I am thankful to have a hobby that my entire family can participate in (and loves!)

Looking forward to another great year!
I am thankful I have a grandson, who takes care of the great outdoors, and puts so much effort into doing good for the community of Des Moines. If I lived closer, I would even ask for a plot. Love you Drew Mathew.

I am thankful that there is more than one Community Garden in the city of Des Moines. That the city of Des Moines allows its residents to have a garden downtown and recognizes that many of its downtown residents do not have space to grow anything. I am thankful that this garden is open to communal plots and attempts to create a sense of community among the people who live around it. I am thankful that members of this garden offer up space to hold meetings, art to put into the garden, is welcoming to children, and is designed well :)
I am thankful that I am able to be part of a community that enjoys gardening.
I am thankful that, even though I am a member of another garden, my friends invite me to events downtown and I always feel welcome and meet great people. People who are as generous with their food and friendship as they are with the time and energy it takes to build a community, not just a garden. Thank you!
I'm thankful to now be in a community that values things like community gardens and embraces innovative ideas.

I'm also thankful for all of the volunteer hours people put into managing and maintaining the garden as a whole. Without passionate volunteers, the place wouldn't look/act/function this great.
I'm feeling a deep sense of gratitude that this really BIG conglomeration of beautiful people exists within a few miles of where I live, work, and spend leisure time in fabulous fashion.

Scott Mathers and Meghan = The Initiators
Sandy and Jon = The Manifesto
Drew and Emily = The Responders

My experience: Is this heaven?
I am thankful for the people who made a vision, reality, allowing us all to come together and produce healthy food on a piece of ground people have been enjoying for generations, that had become almost abandoned. I am very thankful for the free mulch, compost, and water, and for the folks who bring it! I am thankful for those who volunteer their time to help keep the community areas looking good, and locking the shed when they're done. I'm thankful for all the children who lost their marbles- I love finding them!
I am thankful to know I am part of the earth, not seperate from the earth. I need reminded every minute and I am thankful to all of you who help me to re-member. The gardeners.
Good news, I think I get to have a plot at the Franklin Garden. And we are tearing up our front yard, removing the "lawn" Yea!
I love Des Moines and I am grateful to be home!
Somewhat garden related, but more generally:

I am thankful for my health and the health of my family....good food, strong bones, safe water to drink.

I am thankful to wake up every morning and feel a sense of purpose and know that I belong where I am.

I am thankful that I appreciate the present/TODAY...that I can soak in the sun and rain and stars of today without feeling regret about the past or angst about the future.

I am thankful for things that I don't know about, that I can seek knowledge in books and libraries and the people I surround myself with.

I am thankful for people that are different from myself - for the things they teach me about the world and for reminding me that patience, love, acceptance and forgiveness really do matter.

I am thankful for dirt.

I am thankful that today is Friday! :)
Great discussion!

I am thankful for the opportunity provided by the City of Des Moines to have a location to come together with like-minded people to grow healthy food and grow friendship and network.

I am thankful for the opportunity to learn from others who are much more talented at gardening than I am.

I am thankful for the amazing flowers that were shared with me last season - so much so that I am going to plant flowers this year to share with others.

I am thankful for the yoga outdoors last year. I hope we can try to set up something like that again.

Overall - I am thankful for the ability to be healthy and happy and a part of a great community.
