Growing Power
Has anyone heard of the organization call Growing Power? www.growingpower.org This is an amazing organization that uses and utilizes a sustainable (whole cycle) system. Complete with fish and worm harvesting for the betterment of their produce. Check it out and let me know what you think. Or if you know of something similar let me know! I'm always interesed in learning more

I was visiting family down in Louisville, Kentucky and I visited Breaking New Grounds who is partnered with Growing Power. It would be neat to bring somthing like this to Des Moines!

Anna... We (http://www.UrbanAmbassadors.org) was interested in bringing Growing Power here to Des Moines as a regional training center for the Midwest once we heard Will Allen was awarded a $500,000 Fellowship to spread his work. During our research we met Bahia Barry (http://www.swiffi.org/) in SW Iowa. They already wrote a grant and are or have already taken their mayor, city council, and civic leaders to a Milwaukee workshop at Growing Power and are setting up a regional training center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Instead of fight, or reinvent the wheel, we decided to give them our full support and help them bring Growing Power to Iowa, and much closer to Des Moines than Milwaukee. I highly recommend getting connected with Bahia, AND Jason Grimm from the Cedar Valley is an amazing local resource under the Urban Farm group on this site. Let me know if you have any questions. I'd love to get more people involved in this and helping SWIFFI.
