Very difficult and time consuming! :)

This is a Workshop (self paced/learning) Course from Canada (oh noes)

They also have a nice Learning Centre Library.

Self Plug. If anyone wants to drive around Des Moines or the out skirts to assess other potential Community Garden areas pm me PLEASE.

And have you guys figured out a way to email everyone on your membership or waiting list? I do not know what email accounts you might use for this but we have reached spam level by gmail standards and might be considering something like mailchimp.com.

Mailchimp and other email marketing software systems are great tools. My only caution is that you would likely find aversion to using it from future coordinators. In general people seem to be most comfortable with just a regular email. The only solution I could offer up would be to split your mailing list in half and stick with email.

Goodluck with whatever direction you go and I'd be happy to help if you need it.
Thank you for responding Drew.

Why do you think there would be an aversion from future coordinators? I am not comfortable with that but they are probably gardeners this year and if they have a better way then I am all ears. I am pro regular mail too, get kind of tired of making sure I am using the Bcc field. But I have to send out 10 to 14 emails to reach everyone on our roster who has an email account. That's too much time and (for me) too much effort.

My only concern with Mailchimp or anything else that's like it is that it might sell people's email. There are already people concerned about their privacy and they have given me permission to guard a large portion of that. I do not want to harm that trust in any way.

I was hoping that by creating a Google Group I could send out mass emails. I am going to try and ask, contact people I may know with a similar issue and see how they handle it. Parks and Recs isn't in favor of us taking money or being a non profit but I think everyone (at least says) they want the gardens to flourish and have communication with. :S Completely lost on this issue and not sure about opening it up to a forum, more than this. But I need help! :)
